Jane Bosman Hatley Bio
Jane Bosman Hatley and her three sisters were raised as Army brats, living mostly in Germany, due to their father's work as a pathologist with the Army's medical corps. Their childhood was a happy mix of travel and exposure to the world, along with a very southern upbringing. Jane attended and learned to speak German first at a Volkschule in Frankfurt and later at the Gymnasium in Landstuhl: Das Staatliche, Neusprachliche, Mathematik und Naturwissenschaftliche Gymnasium. (What a great school name!) She holds English degrees from Randolph-Macon Woman's College (B.A.) and UNC-Chapel Hill (M.A.), as well as an M.B.A. in Finance from Vanderbilt University's Owen School and spent her primary working years at Self-Help Credit Union, where her last position was as WNC Regional Director. She and her husband, Tom Hatley (author of The Dividing Paths: Cherokees and South Carolinians through the Era of Revolution) live in Asheville, NC, where they raised their four children.
